A Special Connection with Heartland German Shepherd Rescue

Corporal Daegan Page Foundation is honored to award a $1,500 Community Champion Grant to Heartland German Shepherd Rescue (HUGS). While we love supporting local animal rescues, this particular partnership is deeply personal for Daegan’s family.

More Than Just a Grant

For Daegan’s family, HUGS isn’t just an organization they support—it is a group they have been part of for years. The family has seen the incredible work of this rescue firsthand through every stage of the process:

  • Volunteering: The family has spent many hours helping the rescue with its mission to save herding dogs in Nebraska.

  • Fostering: They have opened their own home to foster dogs, giving rescued animals a safe place to stay while waiting for their forever families.

  • Adopting: The family’s love for these dogs is so strong that they have even adopted two dogs of their own from HUGS!

Carrying on Daegan’s Kindness

Daegan was known for his big heart and his love for dogs. He believed in loyalty and taking care of those who needed help. By supporting HUGS, we are continuing that legacy. We know exactly where this money is going because we have stood side-by-side with the volunteers who make it all happen.

This grant will help HUGS continue to provide medical care, food, and training for dogs that have nowhere else to go. We are proud to support a group that has brought so much joy to our own lives and to the lives of many other families in our community.
